A COLLABORATIVE MINIATURE EXHIBITION
INNER WORLDS EXHIBITION
APRIL 23 – 25, 2027 • NVRLND BOUTIQUE: 1048 21ST AVE SE. CALGARY, AB.
Inner Worlds brings together a group of artists invited to construct self-contained universes within the intimate boundaries of a glass cloche. Each work exists as both a sculpture and a site—an enclosed environment shaped by personal logic, material exploration, and imaginative scope.
Constrained only by scale and the presence of the cloche, the exhibition unfolds as a series of distinct yet interconnected realms. These miniature worlds operate at the intersection of control and freedom, where artists negotiate containment as both a limitation and a generative force.
Through this framework, Inner Worlds invites viewers to shift their sense of perspective—drawing closer, peering in, and engaging with works that reward intimacy and attention. What emerges is a constellation of interior landscapes, each reflecting a different way of seeing, building, and inhabiting space.
ARTIST BRIEF
Artists are invited to create a self-contained sculptural work housed within, or encompassing a glass cloche or similar dome like object of their choosing. Each piece must fit within a maximum footprint of 12” x 12” and a height of 60”.
We highly encourage creativity here. Think outside the box! ( or rather, dome ) Reimagine what a glass dome might be?
Beyond these parameters, there are no material or conceptual restrictions. Artists are encouraged to approach the cloche not only as a container, but as an active element—something to work with, against, or through.
The exhibition centres on the creation of “inner worlds”: spaces that suggest their own logic, atmosphere, or narrative. These may be abstract, representational, architectural, organic, or entirely speculative.
EXHIBITION PARAMETERS
- Each artist is given a maximum display space of 12” wide x 12” deep, and up to a maximum height of 60”. Your “Inner World” must fit within that area.
- Each artist must create their piece around the usage of a glass cloche. The individual style, shape and size is left up to the artist’s discretion as long as it fits within the space provided. Please note: You are responsible for picking and purchasing your own cloche.
- Although a cloche must be a part of your sculpture, you have full creative freedom to express yourself outside of it, again, as long as it’s confined to your allotted space.
- There are no limitations around materials that can be used.
- Only one submission per artist will be allowed.
